A Legacy of Ashes
This is the sermon from Oak Ridge baptist Church for Sunday September 1, 2024 for 1 Samuel 31:1-11. Saul is a tragic figure because he squanders his God given potential, he lives a life of self-centered rebellion and dies as a coward. Humans cannot control death; we are mortal and we will all die. What we can control is the legacy we leave. The harder we fight to preserve our life, our comfort our position, and more will sacrifice the things that really matter. We cannot choose if we die but we can choose how we die, we can choose the legacy leave behind.
Out of the pan and into the fire.
